3ware 9650SE にぶら下がっているディスクのSMART情報を得る

先日の突然のディスク破損に懲りたので、少し監視を強化してやることにしました。

少しでもディスク不調の予兆を捉えるという意味で、smartdを使ってSMART情報を監視することにします。通常、ディスクのSMARTの情報を得るには下記のような感じで/dev/sdaや/dev/hdaを指定すればよいはずですが、デバイスが3wareのRAIDの場合には下記のような感じで怒られてしまいます。

please try adding '-d 3ware,N'
you may also need to change device to /dev/twaN or /dev/tweN

上記のエラーにもあるように、デバイスを/dev/twa0のように変更し、-d 3ware,N （Nはポート番号を指す）というオプションを指定してあげることでRAIDカードにぶら下がっているディスクのSMART情報が取れるようになります。具体的には下記のような感じです。

# smartctl -a -d 3ware,0 /dev/twa0
# smartctl -a -d 3ware,1 /dev/twa0

さらに、smartdで定期的なチェックが行われるように /etc/smartd.con fを下記のようにアップデートしてsmartdを起動しておきました。
